8.)There are vertical stripes on the picture.

This is normal (so-called "smear" effect) and appears if you focus on a bright light (lamp).

9.) The camera is reporting a card error, what can I do about this?

Try to format the card in the camera. If this does not eliminate the error, then a defect in the card may be the cause.

10.) Since I installed Service Pack 2 for WindowsXP I can't load any more pictures onto the PC. What should I do?

With Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, the "security center" with a firewall, which can be started with Start - Programs - Accessories - System Programs - Security Center - Windows Firewall is installed.

Please call up the "Exceptions" tab and place a checkmark in the "Ricoh Gate La for DCS" box.
After a restart, the photos can be loaded onto the computer as before.

11.) The LCD monitor isn't displaying a picture.

Please check the setup menu of the camera to see whether the energy-saving mode was activated and switch this off. Another cause could be the monitor settings. You can change these with the DISP switches.

12.) The photos are all fuzzy even though the autofocus was activated.

It could be that you photographed an object that is difficult to focus on. Please try working here with the fixed focus or the manual focus.

13.) Many photos are blurred or shakey.

It could be that the lighting is not sufficient and the camera has selected a long exposure time. Please use a flash or ensure that there is sufficient light. Please hold the camera steady. This works well if you use your elbows. Alternatively, you can use a tripod.
