1.) What type of flash can I use with the GX/GX8?

Synchronous and slave flash devices can be used.

3.) Storing the photos takes a long time, why is that?

Please check the menu to see which settings you are using for the image size and compression. In "NC" mode, the photo is not compressed and it can be as large as 9MB.

4.) Which storage cards can be used?

We recommend SD storage cards up to 512MB and MMC storage cards up to 64MB.

5.) Which lens apertures can I pre-select myself manually?

In wide-angle + macro (F=2.5, F=4.7, F=8.1)

In tele+ macro (F=4.3, F=8, F=14)

6.) Which exposure times can I pre-select manually?

Selectable exposure times are 1/2000, 1/1000, 1/500, 1/250, 1/125.

1/60, 1/30, 1/15, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1 - 30 sec.

7.) How big is the filter thread of the wide-angle lens?

37mm - fine thread

8.) Which batteries can be used?

Ricoh (rechargeable) DB43 , Mignon AA (rechargeable) NiMH 1800mAh and higher, Mignon AA LR6

9.) What is the difference between AF, MF, Snap ,OO focus?

AF = autofocus, MF = manual focus (please with the cursor keys on top and sharp places below) Snap = fixed focus, OO = ∞.

10.) Which picture formats can the camera save?

The Caplio GX normally saves in JPEG (EXIFF 2.2) with two compression levels - fine and normal. In text mode and in NC mode (uncompressed), the photos are saved in TIF format.

11.) I cannot open a picture in NC mode, why is this?

The photo taken in NC format is stored in a special TIFF format, which can be opened with the DU-10 software. From there, you can resave it after opening and then open and edit it with an image processing program that supports TIFF.

12.) Can the internal flash be switched off if an external one is used?

With the Caplio GX, the internal flash cannot be switched off if an external one is used.

With the Caplio GX8, the internal flash can be switched off if an external one is used.

13.) Can the Caplio GX8 be incorporated into the system as a data carrier?

Yes, this is possible. On the Setup menu under USB connection, please select Memory. When connecting with the PC or MAC a mobile data carrier will be displayed.

14.) How long are the videos that can be stored?

With the GX, at a resolution of 160x120, up to 300 seconds; at 320x240, up to 80 seconds of film can be stored at a time.

15.) How big is the frame rate of the Caplio GX and GX8?

The "frame" rate of the Caplio GX is 15 frames per second. The "frame" rate of the GX8 is 30 frames per second.
