Macro Mode
The camera's Macro Mode, the high-quality Ricoh lens, and the
sensitive CCD camera work together to help you clearly focus
on objects as close as 8 cm (a minimum surface area of 30mm
by 22.5mm) without using a close-up adapter. You enjoy the same
crisp level of definition that you capture with regular-distance
shots.
Sound Mode
Advanced Ricoh features don't stop at taking great pictures.
With the RDC-4300, you can record up to eight seconds of sound
data along with the pictures you take. Or, choose to record
audio only, to capture sounds for later editing.
Text Mode
The Text Mode of the RDC-4300 is designed
to takepictures of text that maintain high standards of legibility,
even if images are later compressed. It raises the contrast
and makes full use of the camera's high resolution so that
pictures
of text stand out. It's perfect for capturing a digital copy
of an important document.
High-quality Ricoh Optics
The high quality of the RDC-4300 begins with the Ricoh
zoom lens assembly, consisting of 9 glass elements in 9 groups,
including 2 aspherical lenses. Excellent distortion correction
performance makes it possible to achieve extremely fine 200
line/mm resolution for crisp, colorful photographs. What's
more, a multistep focusing
process delivers precise subject capture. Your photographs
are clean and clear.
Ricoh-developed Algorithm Technology
Capturing good images digitally doesn't stop with a quality
Ricoh lens; advanced analog-digital conversion techniques are
required as well. Years of experience with digital cameras have
helped Ricoh to develop an A-D conversion algorithm that takes
a subject's analog image information and constructs a digital
picture from it with colors that faithfully reproduce the source.
The algorithm works by comparing a single CCD pixel's color
value with the color values of the surrounding pixels. With
this broader range of information available, more accurate color
values can be assigned across the entire image.
This brand-new technology also allows users to downsample images
more accurately than ever before possible. The technique downsamples
1280 x 960 pixelimages to 640 x 480 pixel images by analyzing
the color values of a group of four pixels, and then calculates
the most appropriate color when it compresses the four into
one pixel. The compressed image maintains sharp edges and high
color contrast--detail that can be lost with other compression
techniques.
Professional Imaging Quality
The RDC-4300 offers three different JPEG compression ratios
for each of the camera's two resolution modes, as well as one
non-compressed option. Whether you choose the professional-quality
(1280 x 960-pixel) mode or the VGA (640 x 480-pixel) mode, you're
free to capture exactly the level of quality you need. What's
more, you can apply Ricoh's new compression algorithm to downsample
a 1280 x 980-pixel image to VGA format at 640 x 480 pixels while
preserving precise image quality. The pictures that you take
look their best--even when compressed.
3x Continuous Optical Zoom
The superior quality Ricoh optics deliver zoom performance equivalent
to a 35-105mm zoom lens on a 35mm camera, and make capturing
the right shot quick and easy. Rather than blowing up the image
digitally and losing resolution, the lens allows you to focus
on your subject--and then frame it precisely with a 3x optical
zoom that maintains the same crisp level of definition.
