SmartMediaRicoh uses a new kind of storage
media - SmartMedia - that gives you 2 MB or 4 MB of memory
in a convenient removable card format. Like floppy disks,
these ultracompact, versatile cards allow you to save images
for work and leisure separately and facilitate easy downloading
to a computer with the optional card adapter. The RDC-300Z
accepts both 3.5 volt and 5 volt SmartMedia cards.
High-Quality
Zoom Lens
The RDC-300Z boasts a high-quality zoom lens assembly, consisting of
9 glass elements in 6 groups, including 2 aspherical lenses. Rather than
blowing up the image digitally and losing resolution, this quality lens
allows you to focus on your subject - and then to frame it precisely
with a 3x zoom that allows the same crisp level of definition.
Multiple Image
Capture Modes
The RDC-300Z offers three different compression ratios to allow you to
decide how to best capture your images. Normal is the basic recording
mode; Fine recording puts the emphasis on image quality; and Economy
mode lets you capture up to 49 images in a 2MB SmartMedia card. With
Ricoh technology, image size is uncompromised; all modes capture the
same large 640 x 480 pixel image. You choose exactly the compression
ratio you want.
High-Quality
Image Capture
The key to the RDC-300Z's picture quality is its image-capturing
350,000 square-pixel CCD. This, and the camera's RGB filter,
ensure that bright, beautiful color is precisely captured.
What's more, Ricoh's full-frame image capture system allows
640 x 480 pixel images to be taken in a single click, ensuring
that your subjects have smooth outlines and that focus
is sharp right to the edges of the frame.

Fully Automatic
Photography
The RDC-300Z brings the quality features of Ricoh cameras to digital
photography and makes it a snap to take great photos. Autofocus (both
in Normal and in Macro mode), auto-exposure, auto flash, auto-white balance,
and stepped auto-exposure compensation deliver point-and-shoot image
capture; you get balanced light and focused shots every time.
Power Save
Mode
The RDC-300Z has three power saving settings that let you get the most
out of your battery power. By dimming or temporarily disabling the LCD
monitor, the Power Save function conserves energy, so that you can shoot
with confidence wherever your photography takes you.
TV Set Output
Connect the RDC-300Z to a TV set, and you have instant wide-screen viewing
enjoyment! Simply connect the camera to a TV set's video in" terminal,
and you can view picture playback on a TV set.
Flash Mode
The RDC-300Z's sensitive CCD makes even low light shots possible without
using the built-in flash, and this lets users save valuable battery
energy. When you do use the flash, you benefit from advanced Ricoh
flash technology to help you take better, clearer shots time after
time. You can choose from the Auto Flash, Forced Flash, and Flash Off
modes.
JPEG Compatibility
Experienced users of digital cameras will appreciate the RDC-300Z's JPEG
graphics file format. Opening, and then manipulating, the camera's
graphics files in major software applications is quick and easy.
Monitor the
Action
The convenient 1.8-inch LCD monitor flips up to let you frame and compose
shots with greater precision (especially important when shooting in Macro
mode). With the 30-frame-per-second exposure feature, you can smoothly
capture even moving targets with ease. And, of course, you can check
instantly what you've just shot, and playback images at your convenience.
