Seamless Macro Mode
The RDC-5000 comes equipped with an autofocus that allows you to
change quickly and smoothly from a wide-angle close-up from as
little as 4 cm away all the way out to shots at infinity. Focal
adjustment is a simple, automatic process with the RDC-5000:
simply depress the shutter, and the lens will adjust accordingly,
allowing you to move smoothly from close-up shots to landscapes
and back with ease.
Flash Modes
The RDC-5000's sensitive CCD makes even low light shots possible
without using the built-in flash -- but when you do use the flash,
you benefit from advanced Ricoh flash technology to help you
take better, clearer shots time after time. You can choose from
the Auto Flash, Slow Synchro, Redeye Reduction, and Flash Off
modes. Slow Synchro and Redeye Reduction mode.
Text Mode
The Text Mode of the RDC-5000 is designed to take pictures of text
that maintain high standards of legibility. It raises the contrast
and makes full use of the camera's high resolution so that pictures
of text stand out -- perfect for capturing a digital copy of
an important document.
2.3x Continuous Optical
Zoom Lens The RDC-5000 boasts 2.3x optical zoom
performance, producing focal distances of
8-18 mm -- equivalent to a 38-86mm zoom lens
on a 35mm camera. This allows you to balance
the size of different kinds of subjects without
large areas of unwanted background -- and
without blowing up the image digitally and
losing resolution.
Optional Remote
This handy remote control unit gives you pinpoint control over
self-portraits and other hands-free photo opportunities.
Interval Shooting
The RDC-4300 offers three different JPEG compression ratios for
each of the camera's two resolution modes, as well as one non-compressed
option. Whether you choose the professional-quality (1280 x 960
pixel) mode or the VGA (640 x 480 pixel) mode, you're free to capture
exactly the level of quality you need. What's more,
you can apply Ricoh's new compression algorithm to downsample a
1280 x 980-pixel image to VGA format at 640 x 480 pixels while
preserving precise image quality. The pictures that you take look
their best--even when compressed.
2.5x Digital Zoom
Push your photography further with the RDC-5000's 2.5x digital
zoom feature. The camera digitally
enlarges the image in the center 1/4 of the normal 1792 x 1200-pixel
image to full screen size. This enlarged image is captured in
the 896 x 600-pixel mode. And the expanded flexibility of the
digital zoom means that, when used along with the camera's 2.3x
optical zoom, you can get better than 5x zoom performance!
Auto White Balance
 Auto White Balance automatically
corrects for discoloration that can occur
when your subject is lit by various sources.
Choose from Manual, Daylight, Overcast, Fluorescent
Light, and Tungsten settings.
Monochrome Photography
When you're looking for a quick special effect shot, the RDC-5000
offers two monochrome-filtered programs: Black and White, and "antiqued" Sepia
tone. Experiment artistically with your photographs!
Autofocus; Manual Focus
Ricoh's intelligent autofocus lets you concentrate on framing the
right shot; the camera delivers clearly focused shots time after
time. However, for photographers these prefer a more hands-on
approach, the RDC-5000 lets you take command with completely
manually focusing.
Exposure Compensation
The RDC-5000 offers fully automatic back-lit compensation so that
you can capture well-lit subjects in any setting. You also have
the option of setting a manual compensation, in 0.5 EV steps,
for an EV range of +2.0 to -2.0. Manual override enables the
exposure to be adjusted; deactivation of the flash save battery
power and allows for special photo lighting effects.
